Front diff spooled. Yes or no?

After looking at how it sucks having a front wheel in the air spinning im hoping someone can tell me.
If the front diff is spooled and still have the auto hubs will that help? The way I see the auto hubs is like a one way bearing, if the axles spinning faster than the wheel it will apply drive. Therefore driving the wheel on the ground.
Am I wrong?

Or obviously if the auto hubs are turned to lock then it’s applying dive to both wheels no matter what.

The hubs only lock the wheel to the axle and the diff drives the axles. Unless fitted with a locker the front is a standard open diff, which as you have stated, will send drive to both wheels, but when one has no traction it will spin freely.

This short animation shows an open diff fitted with a locker. It is a bit confusing but you have to visualise the whole diff assembly rotating as well.

Even an autolocker has the ability to cancel out windup, if you spool the diff you will break components.

Yeah an auto Locker is your cheapest option and designed to do what your trying to do.
