colored envelopes

Might be a silly question but what do the colored envelopes mean on the left of the thread title and the starter name
There is red blue and gray , some are closed and some are open.

Any ideas?:confused:

It means that there are more then 15 posts to it or more than 150 views.

Just so everyone knows, I didnt design this...lol
