How about this Poor fella, who found out driving too fast through a washout, late on a in-coming high tide, is not such a great idea in a AWD with no snorkel  (pics by my son)

The guy has his hand on the back of the car to stop it drifting to far (back end was floating), it was getting pushed by waves that splashed over the roof after pounding into the side.

Water had already been running out for about 5mins when this pic was taken.....

The car is a "brand new" Subaru GT Forester (only 2 months old) it would not start after recovery, and needed to be towed off the beach.

Not a good way to finish a day out at the beach !

I would be hoping the insurance company writes it off.

If not, I would be getting rid of it as soon as.

Salt water up and over the roof, not good.

These things happen when you don't take the appropriate care on the beach. It looks so easy when you are on the beach but as said conditions change very quickly and you become unstuck.

Is that at double island point?? If you go into the pub at rainbow beach, there is literally a wall of photos of clowns who've tried to get around the headlands on the incoming tide.

Sad to see, but if you take the risk, expect to wear bruises!!

If in doubt don't go there. IMHO the guy holding the car is standing in the wrong spot. A freek wave could push him under the car. Waves are coming in.
I have enough grace and sympathy to feel sorry for the poor ba$tard.

Ahhh .. yes, Mudlo Rocks!!!! Plenty of quality happy snaps on the wall of the pub for the 'less fortunate' attempts to get around them!!

Where at Bribie?

Scotty, it was at the washout, Second Lagoon , Ocean Beach.

This spot is always "entertaining" near high tide, especially as the inland track is still closed, making the washout the only exit off the high side of the beach.

The amount of people i see on bribie, that drive back down the beach and get out of their car in amazement at how deep the water crossing is, but i know they all had to cross the water to get to the high side in the first place.

These people are obviously totally oblivious to what a Tide change can do to the depth of a washout, most have very nice cars and no snorkels, and usually think going really fast into deep water is best, makes for spectacular pic's ! :hpfredgeorge1:

Dangerous to the swimmers, YES
(But most tools only think of themselves )

Rust to vehicles,
Most who buy new only have a few years anyway,so again refer to TOOLS

Idiots shouldnt be allowed to breed ???

Controlled breeding , Bloody oath
Toolbags breeding toolbags, breeding
Oh and of course x breeding one toolbag with another
A trip down to the local social security office, will explain what i mean

Anyway back to the topic of great drivers

Most of the time the water from the Lagoon washout is inland freshwater (coloured black from tree contaminents), then as the tide comes in, it pushes the fresh water back, and the washout turns clearer with sea water.

Look at the colour of water and also tide hights, between pic's 2 & 3, they show what i mean quite well.

The "Swimmers" in those pics are also very much to blame for there proximity to the cars (actually much more so than car drivers), they all knew where 99% of cars crossed, and had heaps of room in other parts , but still got as close to the crossing as posable to get the "best" spot, then egged the drivers on telling them to go for it !
