Morning all. My dads 89 GQ which he bought new and is stock standard is having auto choke problems.
It wont turn off untill the engine is realy hot. He's tried all all the normal things cleaned, sprayed with lube and checked linckeges etc.
The local carbie service centre closed a while ago and one backyarder has already had a go without sucsess.
He says after a cold start the choke clicks down to half way and then doesnt seem to want to turn all the way off when the engine warms up.
Any ideas?
Cheers Arap

Not sure on this one mate - someone will have some info no doubt to assist, but sounds like an idle sensor/valve is stuffed... Have you downloaded the manual as yet? There is info in there also on checking/stripping these ...

Good luck mate and hang in there - real help will be along soon!!

mechanic over the road has taken the auto choke off his. As he has done with other vehicles. Just lets it warm up. This is in Brissie where the winter temp is usually above 0 Centigrade.

I continue to put up with mine as I occasionally go to -11 C overnight.
