Hey all, It was that time of year again and the insurance policy loomed over my head. I got the renewal notice from the current insurer and fell over backwards $900.
After a bit of a ring around, as you do, I found out the major companies were all about the same.

Got onto GIO, which quoted $728, which was a larger discount that the others. They offered a two year new for old replacement, windscreen, hire car, blah, blah, blah.

I was seriously thinking about switching when I tried YOUI. I was a bit dubious about them, but rang and found out some info on their policies. After a twenty minute phone call with a nice bloke names Mark Listorti [MarkL@youi.com.au], i got a quotes for $578.97, which covered my four-wheel driving, excluded monster truck events, which doesn’t affect me, but included free hire car, windscreen, two years new for old and agreed value.

If anyone is interested I would recommend dropping them an email, though he did say that they prefer low risk policies, obviously I was considered low risk, $320 cheaper than my current insurer, who I’ve been with for 10+ years.

Oh, they are supposed to be an Australian based company based on the Gold Coast. I hope this helps anyone who is interested in renewing their insurance.

Top bit of info mate - what was the agreed value though and did it cover accessories?? I pay about $430 through AAMI with a set value of $10700 ... I only paid $7500 for the truck, but have over $10K plus in accessories that obviously the majority isn't covered as such. That price includes hire car and windscreen and comprehensive cover outside of events as you've stated.

Might have to give them a ring, currently I'm paying around $1800 a year through current company..
Mainly because of my age though being 21

I think it helps when you are a bit older. Insurance companies don't like the young ones.

Be wary of two things... if neither apply then Youi and their colleagues are definitely great value, well done Mick.

I can't use them because of the following issues in the Youi PDS... They won't cover

18. when your car is being used on a permanent or temporary racetrack, raceway or course, or
in a four wheel drive or adventure park, or if it is used for racing, trials, speed tests, pacing,
contests, rallies or for endurance or skills tests;

I was advised skills tests included 4WD Club Outings, Gymkhanas, Navigation Runs etc

26. by the use or application of car parts or accessories which are not recommended or
specified by the manufacturer;
I was advised my Performance Chip, Suspension Mods, Tyres outside the Tyre Placard size were unacceptable

Obviously for trucks close to or still factory and members who aren't right into teh Club scene or frequent the 4WD parks then these companies are very attractive pricewise but it was back to TCIS for me

I don't begrudge them knocking my Patrol back tho... as M M said, they take on the low risk customers and give them a great deal in return.

Yer exactly, shame I'm not classified as 'low risk' lol.. Defiantly something worth thinking about, as shows some of the savings that are out there

You are correct with these points, but as it was explained to me, the mods I have and have planned will not affect the rating of the truck. As i'm not into extreme tuff truck type activities it was of no concern to them I did state that I do alot of off road tracks, with groups and clubs and they said that it was okay, as long as it was not the tough truck challenge type events.

This policy suited me and might suit others, as you said it doesn't cover some mods or events, but for me it works.

Hiya Mick... yeah, mines no Tuff Truck just a nice Tourer... 2 inch lift 33's and a Chip. Word to the wise altho you prob know already, make sure they acknowledge any mods on the schedule or at least an Email record so they can't deny you told them.

How long ya been at Molong? My dad was born there almost 100 years ago now (in 1913). He grew up there, married in Forbes before moving to Ballina

I have't been here very long, only six years, but in the Orange district for 11 years.
And yes, everything was disclosed to them when I discussed the policy with them, everything is recorded on the policy.

That's a great deal. With all these natural disasters flogging anywhere you care to mention all the insurance companies are sending policies skyrocketing. It is almost enough to make you sell off one of your two cars! Naturally the troll would stay! And while prices keep going up you can bet your bottom dollar that governments won't do anything to ease the pain... like dropping rego costs or anything (hint to any pollies that may read this forum... rego is also rediculously overpriced!)
