After selling my gq coilcab I needed another patrol asap so found this 99 gu coilcab in rough condition but with heaps of extras so jumped right on to it.
It is a 99 dx coil cab td42 twin locked 4.6 diff gears warn high mount 5 inch lift custom bullbar and tray.

The paint was terrible on the car when I got it most of it was peeling and surface rust on the roof.
Also had a bent tierod arm some flogged out bushes and leaking swivel hub.
So far I have stripped back all the flogged paint and fixed any rust and dents
Ordered new tierod extended bump stops new paint sound deadening and underlay
And a few other things.

The paint was terrible striped back the roof in no time and most of the doors and bonnet.
Painting it with lic40 so should be nice and durable once it's done.

A few pics of the worst of the damage.
Striped it all back and was only surface rust so that was a bonus. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/02/146.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/02/147.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/02/148.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/02/149.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/02/150.jpg

Installed a new steering arm today and 80 series extended bump stops.
Tried to install the rear bump stops. But every bolt was snapped so will have to sort that out.

And also discovered my shocks are are in need of updating. If anybody has shocks to suit a 5 inch lift let me know. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/03/101.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/03/102.jpg

Looking good mate. can you post another pick of the HiMount winch showing detail of the Drum end? is that a Freespool of some description or just a bearing end home made or something. Its clearly done some work and has a 6HP motor on it and extended Drum so keen to see what else.

Kool. Yeah looks like a crude bearing end but it would work great and reduce the friction. Can you show me the brake shaft too.

The break clutch thing has a bit of movement in it so I think that might need replacing. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/03/133.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/03/134.jpg

Look at that! That's a cracker mate. Grease nipple on your bearing end. I like it. The brake assembly is on a taper shaft and is supposed to be loose when not engaged. The brake shaft is standard on that winch and has not been upgraded and sghou I'd be considered the weakest link. Clearly done some work. Should serve you well.

Managed to fit new 80 series bump stops in the rear all the nuts snapped so just welded studs to the chassis.
And also added some 2 inch coils the 5 inch lift was to big.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/03/207.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/03/208.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/03/209.jpg

Just a few updates.
Installed some fox ifp shocks 10inch from and 12 rears.
Gonna have to raise my shock mounts to get the most out of them with a 2-3 inch lift.
And started painting the cab today I've never painted anything before but it seemed to come out alright just a bit orange peely and some dust fell on the roof but hopefuly I can cut all that out.
And some extra photos of my dodgy extraction fans 1 6 inch in line fan 1 8 inch inline fan.
And a old ducted heater haha.
Works alright but could be better. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/04/35.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/04/36.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/04/37.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/04/38.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/04/39.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/04/40.jpg

Mines a 99 and the paint was rubbish it was just peeling of.
I'm using valspar lic40 I chose it because it's a industrial paint that's tough as and was realy cheap like $200 for 4 liters colour matched with activator and thinners.
Ended up having a few defects in the paint missed a few spots in the roof and blotchy so I'll. Have to fox that later. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/04/49.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/04/50.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/04/51.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/04/52.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2018/04/53.jpg

Still need to remove both diff center and replace airlocker seals as they both leak.
Chuck some 35s on UHF and she's ready to hit the tracks.
