View Full Version : Load sensibg relay and raised suspension

Hi Folks
I have 2" raised (Heavier) coil springs and rear air bags.
With the raised springs I lengthened the load sensing relay spring to make it partially unloaded at normal ride height (it was tight)
With a full load and air bags I can maintain normal ride height, which unfortunately means I am also partial unloaded on the rear brakes, the simple solution is to slip the spring off when fully loaded - to maintain rear braking.
I have found the braking to be significantly better with the load sensing relay spring off (when loaded and air bags pumped up)
Just want to send a heads up to others who may be lacking rear brakes due to ride height adjustment defeating the load-sensing relay

I'm not sure if i'm on the same path here. But when i put my 4" lift, the kit came with a brake proportioning valve bracket which is basically a piece af flat steel that puts the angle of the proportioning valve back in its origional location.

Hi Growler
yes the bracket takes care of the lift but if you then fit air bags (and pump them up) you stop the load sag
so the load sensing valve then thinks there is no load and keeps bleeding of the rear brake pressure down to stop lock up
That's why I have removed the spring when loaded (and air bags removing the sag)
Makes a big difference
