Retractable Seatbelts

Hey Guys,

giving the GU wagon a really good clean & the the retractable 3rd row seat belt retracted when I decided to undo the lower attach bolt (duhhh). How I now extend the belt as it pulls out about 10mm but the locking mech catches. Help!!!!

Remove the entire retractor assembly and try that way. Depending on the angle the car is at sometimes the retractors lock up.

Hold the mechanism at the same orientation as if it was fitted to the vehicle and try it.
AS mentioned by Mudski...if the mechanism is at an odd angle then the device thinks something is wrong and will lock.

Thanks guys - I finally worked it out. As Mudski & the evil twins mentioned, it helps to hold in the correct orientation. What really helped was finding that there is a small ball bearing that actuates the locking pawl & when it moves it locks the pawl. very fine to hold it at the right angle but it does work.
