Hey guys

Unfortunately I have killed a Patrol 1997 4.2L Diesel with only 220,000km on it.

It's located in Canberra. How much is it worth? It's just the motor that is damaged.

Not the best intro I've ever seen mate but under the circumstances ouch , I'm doubting you would get much for it with a dead motor but have heard of people parting one out for spares so they didn't lose as much money .
Someone may buy it as a project if your lucky and I'm thinking anywhere north of $500 .
As a matter of interest exactly how did you kill the motor ?

Yeah bummer. The 4.2 is what gives them value. Body only stuff all. All depends how bad the motor is mate. What did you do?

Thanks guys.

I just didn't change the oil often enough, first diesel I've owned.

It does have ARB suspension, and some small extras like a winch and central locking.

The parts would be way more than $500.

You could get a few grand but you would have to be keen to pull everything apart and sell bits individually and be very patient.

Do you know what part of the engine was damaged?

Just curious, how often did you service it?

How long have you owned it? For a td to die from "lack of servicing @220k km" to me, means you could probably count the amount of services it has had in its life on both hands at best. That is serious neglect for an engine that can do (as has done) a million km with nothing much more than basic servicing.
It also raises questions about the state of the rest it. How neglected is it?
