Hey guys thanks for your help in advance. I have a 1993 TB42E auto 4.6diffs with 35s patrol wagon with twin piston front callipers, the problem I have is holding the brake pedal down hard stationary in low range 1st gear just above idle it drives off brakes won’t hold it, going rock crawling down a hill at idle I have to keep knocking it into neutral they just won’t hold. Braking on road normal driving isn’t too bad considering tyre size etc. I have rebuilt all the callipers machines rotors and new softer compound pads and replaced the vacuum lines adding a small tank inline for vaccum reserve. Really annoying me any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you've rebuilt the brakes have you replaced the brake lines to the calipers with an inferior line that's expanding under pressure ? Have heard of this happening once .
My 94 is pretty much stock as far as brakes go and with 33s on I was able to pull up from about 90 to a dead stop when a car decided to do a u turn unexpectedly in fairly short order .

Thanks I’ll replace them over the next week and see if it helps. 👍

I upgraded my nissan rubber hoses all round to the teflon/ss braid ones and made a massive difference. Then later changed the pads to the softer ones - better again. I only have single piston calipers also.

Yeah steel braided hoses make a big difference.

What did you pay for the Teflon lines and where from? Did you do the long diff to chassis and short calliper to diff?

I contacted Safebrake, one of the vendor sponsors on the forum. It's been a while but they supplied all hoses to swap over so possibly 6 in total. No idea of the cost, but the service was great and swift delivery. Had a workshop swap them over and again from memory it cost 2 hrs labour plus brake fluid. PM Safebrake and get a quote.
I have a 3" lift and they handled that with ease.

I’ve got my hands on a GU booster and master going to give that a go before the ss line I’ll let you know if it’s any better.

From memory it was around the $400 mark for all hoses. Four wheels and the two chassis to diff hoses. No point in just doing some of them. Marks Adaptors I got them from I think. Twas a while ago.

So, just by upgrading to these Teflon braids , it will improve braking ?
Brakes are done my next service . Pads , fluid and thinking of getting these upgrades.

The braided lines will not expand under pedal pressure, hence you are transferring the force to the pads instead of out the body of the hose. Think of the concept of a balloon compared to a steel bar - as you increase the pressure on the balloon it expands, whereas the steel wont as it has more resistive pressure capacity. Even if the GU booster has greater pressure, it will simply put more/higher pressure into the weaker hoses if they are not upgraded. I swear by this upgrade as I reckon it was a significant factor in my easily passing the brake test as part of the VASS certification, even with the original hard Nissan pads in use.

Thanks Phil. Seems like a good option.
