Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and new to 4wd but I'm hoping someone or a few guys can give me their opinions. I recently looked at a 2008 4.8 litre Nissan patrol hoping to be able to purchase the car as I have heard most good things about them, other than the obvious one, fuel consumption. Now upon driving this car followed by another car the exact same but a 2010 model, I realised that there was a little bit of lag in the acceleration. I didn't notice this in the 2nd car I drove but I am more interested in buying the first one for personal preference. Just wanting to know, as I am getting a redbook inspection done before I buy the car anyway but thought maybe you guys could help me too, is this normal and has anyone noticed this with these cars before? Also if there are any opinions on these cars and pros and cons, I would love to hear them all.

Cheers

Jack

welcome to the forum....if you think the lag is a problem you need to find out why...then decide....take it to a trusted mechanic and get a report writtern up..compression test n the like

Could be something simple like a dirty MAF sensor. Or needing an idle air relearn which should be performed each service. If this hasnt been done throttle response can be flat. Another thing could be buggered o2 sensors.
Other than that the motors are pretty bullet proof usually. Have no regrets buying mine.
