Purchased my first 4WD last month.

Cheapo Nissan Patrol 2002 3l TurboDiesel, in great condition - but no service history at all! Bit of a gamble I know, but she was quite cheap, and I have a lot of experience of servicing and repair of cars (ex british army driver, always done my own work on all previous cars) I've since read that this engine has a tendency to abort itself, so slightly concerned about that possibility.

All with the intention of doing one big camper trailer trip with the family through the outback next year before we go back to the UK.

Looking forward to make some modifications / upgrades. Any advice on where to start / what to check first gratefully received.

Thanks for the welcomes.

Here is my current list of jobs on the car:

Done
Replace MAF sensor (I destroyed it by cleaning it - using proper sensor cleaning product)
Replace leaky intercooler with aftermarket job
Fit lots of USB charge points
Install media server & wifi point (for streaming kids movies to tablets)
Replace failing second battery

To Do
Install Boost & EGT Gauges
Adjust Dawes valve (was already fitted - have no idea what its doing)
Replace exhaust manifold gasket (I have a slight annoying noise at boost which I think is an exhaust leak from this area) At same time I will inspect turbo and replace all of its gaskets.
Buy second spare wheel

Stuff i'd like to do - but probably wont - as i'm selling the car in 6 months
Replace shock absorbers and springs all round
Put a proper dual battery controller in. (it has a simple isolator now)
Install winch
