I'm delighted to say I recently won an auction for a 1998 Nissan Patrol with 350,000 km. It's running fine now, but I don't know the service history, so I'm trying to find out what would be wise as preventative maintenance. Perhaps, along the way, I can learn what the Frankenstein-like box under the front passenger seat is (an extra heater?) and how to control it.

Best wishes to all,

Chris

Welcome to the forum mate, if you don't get any answers here you might want to start a different thread as a lot of people don't read the intros.

Usual thing would be to check or change all oils (engine, transmission, transfer, front/rear diff, coolant, power steering fluid, brake and clutch fluid).

Check for movement in the wheel bearings, split bushes, rust, etc. Usual leaks and what not. These are generally pretty hardy cars if looked after. Congrats too!
