View Full Version : How much wider gu diffs?

AB

Got the green light to save the pennies and work towards getting gu diffs and cvs as my front diff is rooted!

How much wider are the diffs compared to Gq?

Thinking about how much will they come out from the guards as my Flexi flares are bang on with my tyres at the moment.

Not overly keen on getting new crazy wide flares to suit either!

Oh god, traider!!!!

You used to be cool Doggy :(

I'm also worried about more scrubbing with the wider diffs too!

Pity I threw out a good GQ diff a few years back , just kept the CV's and a few bits and pieces .
Are GU diffs a bit stronger ?

It's mainly the better cvs and brakes from the gu.

Are GU diffs a bit stronger ?They are stronger and also have bigger brakes. It's a really good upgrade, on my list to do down the track.

The GU CV is significantly bigger and well worth the upgrade. The brakes are a huge bonus.

The length difference is a bit. Been a while but it was abo it a 40mm track change I believe so 20mm side.

Given the track change yo u shou I'd be looking for a pair rather than just a front mate. You will get away with just a front but will suffer a little with rear steer, especially in the Beach Sand.

You will need a new Drag Link and Tie Rod. I recommend a GU Steering Box too.

Obviously a weld on brace kit is a no brainer.

Also swapping your rims over for a lesser offset will sort out the extra track if your really concerned.

Nissan factory rims off a GU will swap straight in and a cheap.

Yeah definitely doing both, I didn't want to have different track widths either.

Liftlid had just the front for a bit I think?

Nice pun [emoji6]

Yeah will be awsome upgrade, especially the brakes GQ brakes leave a little to be desired with bigger rubber. Go the race bred kit 4 sure will be tough as nails. . .

I sense GU envy here, understandable.

A GQ body swap on to a GU chassis. Had nothing better to say, so there.

I take it Ben you're not married or have a missus that you should ahem AB should be married too?

GU FTW twin btw.

Edit : And plus I know what his wife, er missus, would prefer in a Patrol. She needs to set him straight.

Down graded from my MK shorty for sure!
Mate the things we do for love. And I love my GU. Hahaha! You need to take my car out for a while a see and feel the difference, bud. Dont get me wrong, I do love the GQ. Well any Nissan with P a t r o and l in the name. But that little extra room in the cab and comfort really takes the cake for me. And Maty shut up about your Y62! :)
