Just a heads up on an issue I had on our recent rip to the Kimberley.

The 10amp "meter" fuse would blow seemingly randomly. Eventually figured that it "popped" every time I went into reverse. I would loose the Instrument Cluster and the batteries would not charge, I have volt meters on the starter and both Aux batteries. Towing a trailer meant that I needed to reverse to set up most days, luckily there were enough spare 10 amp mini fuses in the group to cover my needs, got into the habit of removing the fuse prior to reversing once I twigged to that being the source of the short.

An Auto elec in Broome (Elite Automotive and Electrical) traced it to the wiring for the LED reversing light I had wired in a few years ago, the wiring had rubbed through near the OE reverse light, rear left, and obviously shorted each time I went into reverse. Wiring was fixed, tapped and conduit-ed, and all has been well since. How these (instrument cluster, reverse lights and battery charging) are all related to the same circuit is a mystery to me, a Nissan thing I guess?
