My Daughter bought the double din unit from Aldi and I put it in her car , I could put my Hema card into it and it worked ok but the normal street function they come with are ok .
I guess it depends on the brand and model etc could be a lottery .

There was a bit of chat about Eonon Chinese units on here some time ago, have a search for it.
From memory they were a bit hit and miss.

Yeah i have a Eonon unit. What a POS! GPS is slow and buggy. The radio reception is crap (I haven't complete ruled out anything else causing this). Even on a whip antenna. BT works when it wants to, thankfully most of the time. The CD player. Dunno, never used it in the maybe three years of owning it.
If I thought about it properly, i should have just bought a branded 2din unit like Pioneer etc without the GPS. This would have been a better way to go. As I just use the GPS thats on my phone anyway. Doing this just about halves the cost of a 2din unit.

I did a hell of a lot of research on these before i bought it.
Im not running stock firmware which come with it. Im using a different firmware which seems to take many of the bugs out people have with them. Im also not using the head unit to power the speakers. Im running an amp. My bluetooth works fine. The stock firmware module its shipped with was shit. The new firmware replaces it. Never had a drop out issue.
I dont have a cd player in mine. Didnt see the need as all my music is MP3 and runs off my phone
My radio reception is the same as my stock unit of not slightly better. But i will be adding the DAB add on in the future for digital radio.
Gps works well. Click the navi button and it pops up with your default map provider wether its google maps, hema etc
In short i really like it.

I wont go into full detail here just yet but i will give you a quick run down. Its the same as flashing a phone really.
Download the new rom (firmware) for your device. Ensure it is the correct one for your device!
Once downloaded load it onto an SD card and insert it into the device.
Reboot into recovery mode and select the rom file. It will then install and its done.
Im running Malaysk Rom if you want to read up on it.
