I had my moon crater dash replaced by Nissan on the GU IV CRD today. When I arrived home, removed the 2 dress rings from the steering column plastic shroud at the Ignition switch barrel lock assy. Noticed that the plastic spool that housed the copper coil over the switch barrel assy was busted (heavy handed Nissan Tech) when changing out dash. Is this the key reader and is it part of the NATS?

Will be ringing them up tomorrow and wanted to have an idea of what I am talking about, Help would be great.

Yes that reads the transponder in the key for the NATS. If you damage it the car will not start as I found out.

Is the glow plug light linked to nats?

You haven't upset the copper coil at the ignition barrel have you ? If you have you will more than likley need to replace it , I'm sure there's a thread here somewhere about it .

Missed posts and did see Steve's coil spool out. Caution is req'd when removing lower shroud from around steering columb it can snag up on reader spool easily.

As expected they denied busting key reader, gave them heeps but went over their heads. Anyway, I had already fixed it as I was concerned that driving vibration may cause further damage.. Coil winding was in one piece so eased small section of loose copper coil back on plastic spool and glued it in place as well as the broken plastic spool portion with some UV cured adhesive I use for fly tying. Good stuff and solid assy (all good now).
