Fuel consumption figures are always misleading because most of the time it's worked out in a lab , add big tyres a roof rack big spotters etc and watch the consumption go up .
Your only slightly worse than my diesel but it's a price we pay for driving these heavy almost indestructible beasts .

Yeah same here , the fuel needle follows the speedo needle , the more one goes up the other goes down .
I can't remember what we got out of the MAV but your consumption is a bit on the high side , but it can be affected by so many things .
Tune , Timing
Air filter , air intake setup .
You have EFI is that all working as it's supposed to
What type of fuel ron do you use
What spark plugs you use and other elec components .
Driving style
Lift
Tyres , type and size and pressure
Condition of motor
Accessories fitted like roof rack spotters etc inc bullbar .
How much stuff you have crammed in the back .
This list is not complete by any means but just gives you an idea of all the things that can add up .

To get that low you would havd to be on level ground all the time.Yeah mate, that's pretty much what my old 93 TB42 EFI Auto did. It was very rare that it did any less. It may have got down to 16 on a downhill slope with a prevailing wind ;)........ But I loved driving it, so accepted it.

My TD42 manual that I have now gets anywhere between 14-16, so a bit better but not as nice to drive.

those figures sound right for a tb42e, mine always ran in that range as a rule, best i ever managed was 13l per 100 running up the fwy between werribee and sale. figures did improve a bit once i turboed it but not as much as they could have due to power being addictive

I forgot to mention mine is auto. I drive between 100 and 115kms.
since the petrol and diesel are close to each other in fuel consumption.
Its a waste of money to convert to diesel. $5000 to change. Thats a lot of petrol.
Why are the diesel models so expensive. do ya maths and buy a petrol.:groupwave:

Many reasons why diesel motors are better than petrol but mostly off road and low down grunt are the main ones , water crossings with a snorkle are another but modern electrics bring that back a bit .
