Hi we are looking at buying a 1999 GU ST diesel patrol. We found one that said it had major work done on it @ 12000 kms ago, these are - new head, head gasket, cam belt etc, injector pump and injectors, new glow plugs and bushes (swing arm) I think. The car has done 235000kms and just wandering if any other major things will need to be done @ a certain amount of kms as this our first 4wd and the budget doesn't stretch much past the price of the car.Any info would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum Donbar.

The cylinder head is the one weakness of the RD28 powered Patrol so you should be OK as long as the rest of the car has been well maintained. Check the vehicles service history, if it hasn't had a major service in the last 40,000km I would budget for that as well.

Welcome to the forum mate, just a quick couple of questions...

Is the Patrol stock standard? are there any modifications as if someone has been 4wding with it?

What area has the car been in, as far as you know?

To do wheel bearings, replace gearbox, transfer and both diff oils (as well as the usual service items) I wouldn't expect much change out of $750.
