Sorry to ask a question that's probably been answered plenty of times before and I did look and find a few posts about this but they never had clear answers lol so here I go
I have a 1996 GQ rd28 patrol and from what Iv read about the rd28 it's a good idea to block the Egr
What I'd like to know is are the gq and gu Egr the same will the blocking plate or gasket from the gu fit the gq Iv seen plenty of blocking plates for the Gu but not Gq 🤔
Will blocking the Egr mean I need to do anything else or is it just as simple as it sounds

I don't think yours would have an egr to block

Not sure why the pic is upside down but that's the EGR valve on the manifold right ?

Loosen the bolts, break the gasket seal, slip it in and bolt it back up.

Is there any problems that can come about with blocking the Egr on the gq

Not that I am aware, but it technically makes the vehicle unroadworthy as the exhaust fumes that should have been recycled into the engine for a second burn are now expelled to atmosphere.

Thanks for the replys
I only asked if there was problems because what others had written about it and was mainly wondering if the gu an gq egr's were the same (I guess they would have to be) so I could get a gasket at the same time as the plate but can't seem to find one of those now ether haha so I'll just order a plate and get some gasket goo

I thought id already posted my progress on this but I guess not I feel like a idiot reading my other posts now haha I just took the metal tube thing out with the flange on it that sits between the valve an manifold and just traced it onto a backing tray cut it out bit of gasket glue on it done it all back up nicely I did the catch can at the same time I was pretty much waiting till I had everything for that to go on before Blocking the EGR car did seem to go a bit better afterwards best thing though not gonna be having anymore of that black sludge building up in the manifold
