Hi!
And greetings from Finland!

I have me Land Rover Series III, equipped with Nissan SD25 diesel engine. My car is also equipped with Mark Adaptors gearbox.
At the moment I'm having problems with the gearbox! Third gear jumps off. F.ex. when I stop in a junction, the third gear jumps of.
When driving it's working fine but on idle speed it's having that problem.

The main problem is, that I don't know anything about that gearbox. It is Australian made by Marks Adaptors. It looks like Nissan gearbox, but I should find out from which Nissan it is made of?
Enclosed I add some fotos of that box. I would appreciate if anyone could give more info about this matter!

Yours

Finding out what Nissan came out with a SD25 motor would be a place to start. Or even emailing Marks adaptors with the pics and ask them?

If it's got a marks adaptor kit it is likely the original land rover box as why would you bother using an adaptor kit to fit the original gearbox that was with the sd25. Pretty sure the sd25 come out in the early Nissan /Datsun 720 Ute's and maybe the mk patrols to not sure.

If it has 3 gear sticks it's the original Landrover. One for gears a yellow and a red stick
They are for high and low and 2 wheel and 4WD
The casings look like Landy

Yep sorry you can see in the second pic the red gear lever. It's an original Landrover Gear box

I've sent two e-mails to Marks Adaptors, with no reply... :(

Those two levers You mentioned are not fixed to the main gearbox I'm talking about. The other lever operates transfer box (high and low) the other lever operates four wheel drive.
Land Rover has four gears and the gearbox in my car has five.
Attached You'll see Land Rover Transmission unit.

I've gone thru Nissan/ Datsun info found in internet. The closest hit I have found is "Nissan Patrol mq 5 speed gearbox". It looks the same and it has plenty of common details as my gearbox. Even the cover bolt sequence seems to be the same.
The main difference is the cover it self. I think that is Mark Adaptors made...

G'day Tim mate! Way out of my mechanical league but reckon the boys might be right. Marks Adaptors-Aus for decades have from what I've purchased plates and or bell housing adaptors for donk to box or vice versa I guess. We have a retired legend on here 'John' threedogs that can hopefully make a local call to 'Marks' for you soon. Quite interesting your quandry, maybe some 30 odd years ago they did this?

Sorry for my english but I didn't fully understand your message... ;)
But anyway, I hope that someone from Australia would recognize my gearbox, so I could start looking for manual & spareparts...
The reason I turned to Australian Nissan Site was that due to the documentation of my car that gearbox was sent from Australia to Finland in 1996.
My Land Rover was "Nissanized" the same year. I bought that car one year ago.
I presumed there might be a Nissan builder who could have seen a gearbox like that.

Thanks for Your couraging!
Anyway my car is 40 years old... so it's not question of seconds...
It's summertime in Finland now, so I won't dismantle transmission for at least 5 months. In wintertime I have plenty of time to fix it. I'll just try to avoid the use of 3rd gear... ;)

Going by your two pictures comparing the two, I think you are correct, but I think you are better off just emailing Marks Adaptors with the pics. If it is their work, they will know for sure.
