Hi everyone!

I've just bought my first patrol, 99 GU with a TD42.

I found out after I got it home that it's had an engine transplant from an RD28 - obviously that wouldn't have bothered me if it weren't for the problems. Have just fixed the botched wiring! :animierte-smilies-t
However - one thing that was bothering me was that its revving extremely high @ 100kph. When I first got it home it was doing 4000rpm @ 100kph. I've put 4.1 centres in and now its doing 3800rpm @ 100kph. I still think that's waaaay too high.

Any thoughts?

Loving these forums so far! So much info :smiley_thumbs_up:

Cheers,

Jess

Welcome to the forum mate, feel free to ask any questions.

If you don't get any answers here try posting questions in a different area as a lot of people don't read the intros.

Forgotten it now but isnt there a Formula you can use to figure out,,,

I run 3.9 diffs with 33" tyres, 95 kph in 5th gear is 2000 rpm. Thus if I ever saw 4000rpm in top gear I'd be doing 190kph!!

Definitely think your tacho is way off, else are in low range (most unlikely).
