Does anyone know of a good workshop to repair a fuel injector pump in port Augusta , the seals / gaskets are leaking .
We are currently in Cooperpedy but mechanic I went to said no one here can do it .

After doing a bit of research we are going to finish the holidays leak or no leak but will stay South and slowly head back home .
Funny but true our fuel economy has never been better since the leak started but hoping it doesn't get any worse .
Once the motor heats up the leak does slow down .

Sorry to hear about your mechanical woes. Places suddenly feel far more remote in the circumstances - not a nice feeling when you are having to worry about wheher you will get there or not. Been there done that!

I assume that it would have been Bulls garage in Coober Pedy. They are renowned for their inventiveness in getting folk going again. Not sure if they actually looked at your pump or that you just told them that it was leaking? If they looked at it I would assume that it needs stripping to rectify the leaks & that being a specialised job needing specialised equipment they said 'no can do' or that they would have needed to freight the pump somewhere to be rebuilt, meaning a fairly long stay in Coober Pedy. Hopefully they didn't look at it, & your leaking gaskets are actually just the banjo washers leaking.Either way now might be the time to invest in RAC top cover if you dont already have it....... could save you a motza if the pump lets you down.

We spent a week in Coober Pedy waiting for parts Bulls ordered for us from Melbourne & then fitted. Had a great time, was good to stop & meet up with a few locals. Was a very different experience to my first visit there which was just an overnighter. Only place I've ever been where a church had a bar in a back room. :)

How did you guess Cuppa ? Yes he did look and showed me by using compressed air where it was leaking , he can't do it and suggested if it wasn't bad just keep going .
Have had a few tell me the same thing , as long as it's not pissing out keep going so that's what we will do but we will stay South just in case .

Replaced the copper washers mate and really thought that was it but nooooooooo luck , as for a text I thought I gave you the sat phone no , normal mobile has been flat for weeks .
Although Oodnadatta and William creek only have Optus so could have used it there .
