I was shopping around for a new truck and one of them I looked at the guy had installed an aftermarket BD Supermaxx turbo. The truck had a check engine light on and when I asked him about it he said it is because of the aftermarket turbo and that if you got some kind of "boost fooler" or something like that (he wasn't quite sure exactly what it was called) that it would get rid of the light as well as let the turbo hold more boost. I'm new to diesels so was wondering if there is any validity to what he's saying. Anyone with some knowledge please chime in, thanks.

I would need a lot more information like make and model of truck and build date, turbo kit specs etc to have any chance of answering this one.
