Hi all,
Just became a patrol owner again after 20 years. Had a 61 MQ series from 1982 till 97. Have now picked up a new (2016) GU Y61 with the intention of fitting it up to travel round Oz, with a van, 2 kids and missus, starting mid next year. Have been ghosting around this forum (and the other Nissan one) for a couple of months reading, picking up info, and thought it was time to front up. So hi again!
We live in Kal and will be doing a few short trips around the Southern half of WA before the big one next June, which will start with the Gibb River road, Kalumburu in particular, then leave off to see the rest of it, then back to Kalumburu to finish off in July 2019.
I've just retired, but SWMBO is a nurse, and we are planning to take in other remote settlements for extended work stays on the way around.
Thats the plan, anyway.
So I'm looking at fitting up my Y61 to cope with some rough stuff, and have been interested in the many experiences on this forum over many years
Look forward to crossing paths with forum people down the track.
LEF

Hello and welcome to the forum. sounds like a great trip in the making,,,,,enjoy
if towing you might want to beef up the rear spring towers, maybe an aux fuel tank as well.
have a search as there'r plenty written about kitting out a Patrol for Outback travel
