I have a 30 Y.O. 60L Engel Fridge, 12V240V. Its on its second heart transplant and going strong.
Until recently I was running an aux temperature controller as the thermostat was difficult to 'dial in' for internal temps. I am after repetition and accuracy of setpoint. Unfortunately I got the controller wet and it went to heaven. The manufacturer is no longer around - was a home brew sort of box off the internet. I sourced the controller after pulling it to bits, from China, but I am at my witts end to get it going again. Right now i am on my fourth unit and each replacement item has had a different fault - I am over it.

Does anyone know of a stand alone box with a digital setpoint that is adjustable, complete with temp probe, and preferably with flying leads, that is rated for say 10a continuous - the engel draws 6amps - its the old engine.

It needs +/1 input, +/- output and a temp probe, although I have a stock of these now. The box can be mounted on the top of the fridge.

TD, this is the unit I had and was perfect until it got wet. I have not been able to find the supplier. If I could get this one I would be happy however would change the plug to the small anderson style

John, the actual temp controller is the one I have replaced 4 times with no success. The original temp control box came complete with a 20amp relay to handle the start up current. I replaced the actual controller ex China and each has failed, sometimes within seconds. I am not wiring them up any different to the original. If I can get my hands on the original black box configured with the controller and relay I would be happy. I have another temp controller of a different make that I will try - just am obviously doing something wrong, so it has to be PEEBEE PROOF!

Do you have a photo of whats failing at the moment ??

The actual controller fails, the grey enclosure containing the electronic parts - I am not adept at breaking down what has failed from an electronic perspective, simply the controllers are failing, and I don't care why to be honest, just want one that works!!

All wires suitable for the length they need to travel, not using any cig plugs lol
Yendor may be able to shed some light on your problem. Mine runs a 40lt and
no problems whats so ever to date. thin wire may be overloading the components
in the electronics, only guessing but all wires ,connections etc need to be spot on

Thanks John, simply can't put my finger on the issue, same wiring as original. I will try this other style and see how I go.

Yeah wiring is certainly a PITB to trace and find problems.
Can you simulate the problem on the garage floor maybe???

Sorry, well past playing with this thing, just want to buy something that works out of the box, no jinking around etc.
