Hello and welcome to the forum , first 4by was a maverick 4.2 but a petrol / gas one and can't remember the year , I do remember it broke down a lot but think that had something to do with the Ford badge on the front .
Now have a GQ 4.2td auto , one of the 100 odd they brought into oz in 94 or so I'm led to believe .
Missus drives a 2002 hand grenade .

There will be a few turbo threads here somewhere , just type turbo 4.2 Td into the search browser top right .

Hey mate yep I've put a couple of different turbos on mine.
The most common and cost effective would be to get a ht18 turbo off the gu td42 engines which are mostly the same as ours.
Good thread below of how to install it...

G'day Gnoxy
I've got a 2005, 4.2 TDi ute - ex Telstra with a pod on the back. Love it to bits.
Haven't and won't touch the engine, just get it serviced every 10k.
Take care out there.
