Was looking to change coolant but block drain plug in ZD 30 is impossible to see & seems extremely hard to even get at. Is there some other practical way of draining the block?

I'm not sure but think you would have to drop the plastic shroud and undo the hose to bottom of radiator , not much room to work on these buggers .
When I did the wife's GU I was replacing the radiator so had to remove the plastic cowl bits anyway but from memory there is bugger all room .
