I'm doing a trip to Cape York in the next couple of months and I'm looking at replacing my shocks - I don't want them to fail on the trip. I was looking at:
Amada Extreme $1,200 https://www.superiorengineering.com.au/4x4-suspension/shock-absorbers/amadaxtreme-explorer11-3-inch-lift-shock-absorber-nissan-patrol-gq-gu-full-kit-front-and-rear-30899?filter=141,355&sort=p.price&order=DESC
Dobinsons Remote Resevoir $1,450 http://www.4wdworld.com.au/Dobinsons-MRR-4WD-Gas-Shocks.html
Fox Shocks $1,650 http://www.partsman.com.au/suspension/nissan-suspension/nissan-patrol-suspension/fox-remote-reservoir-shocks-suit-nissan-patrol-3-inch-lift.html

Can anyone recommend one over another? I haven't heard of Dobinsons or Amada before so I wonder if the Fox aren't worth the extra?

These guys know how to make shocks , they won a contract at one stage to supply shocks to Japan for Mitsubishi Evo models .
Just found out they were doing 4by shocks .

Are any of these fully rebuildable, important if you're paying these sort of prices
Koni do a very good shock that suits a coil sprung 4x4 very nicely

Check out Tough Dog suspension, haven't go to them myself but know a few people who use them and they say it's great. My cousin just purchased a GU Patrol with 2" Tough Dog suspension springs and shocks and he said it's probably one of the best he's had. Towed a camper weighing nearly 2t with load and the suspension held it quite well not much drop. Hope this helps! Let me know how you went with it.

I'm looking at the DMS, I've had a set before in my Evo and they were great.

The problem with DMS is they only have one year warranty (which is much less than the competitors), and unless you have them fitted by a mechanic you don't get any warranty at all. That really sucks as it means I effectively have to pay a couple of hundred dollars just to get warranty coverage. I asked the guy on the phone how it was even possible to incorrectly fit them and he couldn't give me an answer :(

I really want to get the DMS but I'm about to do six weeks of outback travel so I really want shocks that have warranty support.
