3" would be to big wouldn't it, unless I have motors mixed up.
Thinking a 2.5" would be perfect

Yeah, I haven't seen an RB30 with a 3" exhaust, yet. Bit of an overkill I think.

It will be getting a turbo put on it in the near future so 3" would be a perfect size I think

if your gonna turbo it soon dont bother with extractors etc just wait until you turbo it

as others have said 3" will be too big for a rb30 naturally aspirated you will loose power torque down low and get poor economy
also you will find most extractors only have a 2.25 or 2.5 inch outlet

Ahhhh bloody good point!!! Didn't even think of that, when I do turbo it I should be able to get a 3" dump pipe Yea

Bigger is not always better. The exhaust(extractors, exhaust pipes, muffler, etc) need to match the type of engine, be it stock or moded with turbo etc.

you'll get good gains from going up to a 2.5" exhaust

Post turbo can be as big as you want.

True, pretty sure all your vl Turbo's and r31s run a 3" always thought a bigger exhaust with a turbo would be better

yes on a turbo engine you want a big pipe 3" 3.5" even 4" depending on power level the idea being to get the exhaust away from the turbo as quickly as possible.

with a naturally aspirated engine the idea is that the pipe needs to be sized right so the gas speed stays high, if you go too big of a pipe the gas slows down too much and doesnt help draw the next cycle of exhaust out of the cylinder. sure it will work at high rpm ok but at lower revs it will become very doughy

Cheers mate, any ideas on intercoolers trying to stay away from the front mount don't really want to chop my grill and can't really find a good top mount, been looking at side mount as there abit smaller was thinking one of these with a electric fan
