G'Day All,

Now this is a first for me doing a forum introduction, but hey we all have to start somewhere don't we ;).
My name is Marcus and i am currently looking at buying my first proper 4x4, i am currently doing my homework on the Nissan Patrol.... GQ-GU to be exact, undecided on what motor/model at the moment with a budget of 15-20K (yeah i know its not much for a good 4x4).
I am looking to buy a patrol as hunting and fishing in a rwd commodore does not get you into many places off the beaten track.
I look forward to reading all your forum post and getting to know the regulars here on the forum.

Cheers

Welcome Marcus to the forum, you will find lots of interesting stuff here, on everything. You maybe surprised at what you can get for that price range.

Hi mate. Your budget is pretty good. Top end of that will see you into a CRD GU6 which would be nice. Maybe a little more though if you can stretch it. But you will be into a reasonably good GU or a fully sik GQ with a long list of mods

Any advice guys?, im looking for a patrol for hunting and fishing, so mainly spotlighting farmland, deer hunting in the high country, towing the duck punt to the state game reserves during duck season (11 foot with a 10hp).
It's just me and the missus, this 4x4 will be my daily driver so im after reliability and low k's, it's my first 4x4 so im a complete newbie at this scene.
My mates drive navaras, hilux's, tritons and landcruisers, so ill be the odd one out, they all swear by their own rigs...but each to their own, i have seen every one of their rig's have problems...
I'd like a turbo diesel, manual, wagon...i am aware of the GU 3LT grenade issues...but thanks to this forum already ive been enlightened to the NADS kit and warning signs to watch out for.
The main thing i am looking for when viewing potential purchases at the moment is service history, over all condition, K's, leaks and flogged out under bodies from bush bashing.

We have a 2002 GU , so called grenade model , no nads and has been round the block three times pulling 2700 odd kgs of van . Apart from alternator and belt tension setup has been a brilliant , reliable setup .
Also have. GQ td4.2 factory auto that I'm more than happy with , only one little niggly with the GQ is big long steep hills sees me crawling , but get it off road lock it in low and nothing much stops it except when I get stuck behind a Toyota .

Welcome mate. I recently purchase a 2004 ST-L 3.0 with 160000k's, standard with no mods. Old bloke used to tow a tinny to go fishing and so I took it for under 15k. Your budget will suit you well.
