Been a member for a few years now but never really taken the time to make a build thread, not sure if i ever will, but the least thing i can do is make a Members ride thread... especially since i have sought out tons of info from you guys on this thread... this databank is really something!
Well, my rig is actually made out mostly from 3 cars. The engine is a TD42 from a 89 safari, chassis is from a 2008 Patrol which was modified as a rescue car on 44" tires and finally the body is from a 2002 model that i bought with a blown zd30 motor. I used the diffs from the 2002 car which had an ARB airlocker in the front and reduced ratios to 1:5.42.
The car is not quite finished but he drives and brakes and next up is finishing the modification check up by the department of transportation.

Yes it will, maybe i'll have to remove the extra seats in the back because of weight gain but the weight of the car with passangers cannot exceed 3.500kg (still havent weighed the car) but i can weigh him with empty fuel tanks which helps (i have 2 extra tanks and about 200 liters capacity overall)

You know you got enough ground clearance when you need a safety step to change your gearbox oil lol

44" tyres! Somewhere there is a jumbo jet sitting forlornly on its axles!

I love the look of these cars!!!!!! Probably not great for our type of terrains but awesome all the same. Well done mate looks mint.
Can you explain what is needed to run such a big tyre?
Brakes, axles, lift etc

Brakes and axles are original... i used OME springs with 10cm lift both front and back with a matching shocks. Wheel housings are moved, the front one 5-6cm further ahead and the rear 10cm back. The downside of lowering the diff ratio to 5.42 is that the max speed on these tires is around 90km/h (which is the legal limit here) so if i would put any smaller tires under the car the top speed would also lower drastically :)

90kph top speed, TD42, the torque at the wheels must be phenomenal. Do you even need low range?

It revs up pretty nice... Well the top speed is likely higher but at 90km/h it's running pretty hard so based on economy and wear i'm not driving it past 90 :)
