Hey guys iv just noticed my fuel primer cap the black thing ontop of fuel filter has gone missing, now iv found this on ebay is that all that i will need? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/142042932681 to suit td42ti

Hi mate welcome to the forum. I have never stripped one down. For a few more dollars I'd replace the lift pump.

Thats not bad actually only an extra 30 bucks, is that basically just undoing fuel filter and lines and just plumbing the new one up

yes full replacement of the top bolt on section. The fuel filter screws up under it. Everything above the Fuel filter is replaced.

Read the add though as there are 3 different ones. the difference is the size of the tubing going in and out so your hoses will work. the mechanism is the same for all of them though.

I fitted an outboard type inline bulb primer (copied Macca) sold as suitable for diesel even though my original is in working order (& still fitted). Fitted it when I added a CAV type pre-filter. Standing & pumping forever are now a thing of the past. two or three gentle squeezes & she's full primed.
