Yesterday's adventure saw us doing several deep water crossings. After the 3rd one my dash warning lights flickered & then stayed on but would disappear at high revs. I thought it was mud in the alternator as they all went off after we did a clean water crossing but then later they came back on & stayed on & now alternator which isnt very old is no longer charging. I charged batt overnight & started it this morning but no change. I've disconnected the batt & going to leave for a few hrs. Any other ideas?

Did you pull the plug off the alternater and give that a good clean?

I found the two wires that plug into the alternator were broken
and therefore not charging, I repaired the wires [be carefull]
and fitted a new alternator which I was going to do anyway.
Ill get the old alternator bench tested as its only 35k old

give the alternator a decent squirt with CRC or similar

This happened to me last year. In my case the regulator in the alternator had gone
And I was charging at over 15 volts. Cost me a battery as well as alternator as I cooked the main battery. Same reason by the way, got it wet.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Ended up being a fried alternator. Weeks later my High torque starter died too. Not so many river crossings for Sharky from now on lol
