Hi all !!

Just got myself a Y61 '98, 4.5lt manual.

She's pretty standard, nice winch bar (no winch), Rhino Bars and spotty.

I want to use this just for 4x4 camping, so i will remove the back seats and add drawers, put a lift kit and taller tyres.

I did a lot of 4x4 driving many years ago with a GQ 4.2D, later with a Pajero, so I have the bug....
The others where also city cars, but this I will just use it for camping trips.
Any suggestions as how to make her into a good all rounder, but especially sand machine will be appreciated.
I do not want the top of the range, expensive gear, I drive slow and use caution/ common sense.

Anyhow, nice to be here and hope to meet some of you 'Out There"...

Keep smiling :smile::smile:

Yea, done a lot of Km.... but in good nik.
No dual batteries and the shockies are very tired, but I got her at a good price and will fix / upgrade where necessary.
Just bought a second battery as Repco had 30% off today, will grab a Dual Battery Management System in the near future (something like this:VICTRON-DUAL-BATTERY-SYSTEM (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VICTRON-DUAL-BATTERY-SYSTEM-MONITOR-VOLT-AMP-12V-VOLT-BMV-602S-REDARC-SBI12-/301069483781?hash=item461923bf05:g:ssEAAOSwLEtYfZl I)).

Thank you all for the warm welcome!!

I managed to learn a bit about my 'new' old car, 580,000km, but a new engine in 2015.
Dual tanks (I suppose I will need them....)
33" tyres.
Not sure if she's got a lift kit, Munroe shockies and ?? springs.
70990

I have a leak from the oil sensor:
70991
I have not been able to open the plug, just scared to break it...

I will need to replace the front hub seals and bearings as well as the wheel bearings (I already ordered the kit from eBay).
And, need to adjust the valve rocker.

I have found three PDF manuals for the Y61, but with info all over the place.. Also mostly about Diesel engines.
Does any of you knows if there is one specific for the TB45E motor?
I spent all afternoon looking for one, I have a few manual with all sort of scattered info, very difficult to find and follow info on the TB45E motor.

Keep smiling...

Hi mate and welcome to the forum, jump in and enjoy
How long is a piece of string, with new law regarding restrictions
you are like all of us limited to 33"max and a 50mm lift.
If its worth engineering a higher lift I just cant see the value for the
extra height or bigger tyres
