A while back I sourced a series 1 GU with a blown 2.8.
The TD42 from our GQ was quickly fitted into the new ride.
When we got the GU it had a terrible home made gal roof rack on it, possibly the worst ever home made rear draws and the previous owner had pressure packed the alloy bar.
The good points were trailer brakes dual batteries, in dash gps, factory alloys (sold) pretty straight, a clean interior, 8 months reg, snorkel, 50 inch lightbar, tinted windows, 2" lift and it was cheap.
I replaced the rack with a Rhino rack and fitted some of the accessories I had laying around, there is still more to go on but I had been lacking motivation to pick up spanners as my shed was a mess.
Last week we went away on a family trip and I was forced to empty the shed to get the camper out and amongst all the mess in the shed, I found something I had lost......motivation to finish the Patrol!
I am pretty keen to start turning spanners again, I have a trio of turbos to choose from in the shed, inter cooler, winch and ARB winch bar, light bars, fox wing awning and some electrical accessories for the interior.
After the trip to Renmark towing the camper the 4.6 diffs are going probably for 4.11 (33s), it was 40+ degrees on the trip up and the temp was fluctuating so plenty of backing off to cool down, it has a new radiator but I will overhaul the cooling system before the turbo goes on.
The Renmark trip was the first real decent trip I had taken it on and I was bursting at the seams to hit the road, even with the temp gauge haunting me I still loved driving the patrol.
