Hi

Im going to be installing a Provent 200 in my 2011 CRD and would like to know where people have installed the catch can (photos please). Also I have been told that you need to reduce the size of the hose coming from and too the catch can back to the fittings on the engine and air intake, is this true?

Also have i got the right hose where the catch can needs to be installed? (see pic)

Thanks in advance

Hi Clffy. I made up a little L bracket setup and used existing captive threads on the fire wall to hold up my catch can on the CRD. Pictures will tell you more. This was my backyard job/idea and it worked. Others I have seen have a more professional approach. I'm not much of a fabricator.

As for reducers. I don't remember its been a while since i sold my 3L. The catch can out side I had to reduce...

Also a word of advice. Across the web and other forums, some suggest a xc-xb falcon heater hose... One side of that hose has flared ends and it fits perfectly... However, the heater hose doesn't like oil. I used one (you can see it pictured), and within a year it deteriorated. Stay away.
Sorry i cant remember exact hose sizes/reducers.

They say you can use Ford XA heater hose as it has flared ends.
Ive noticed on ebay you can buy the correct size hose barb,,, to
eliminate heaps of hose clamps etc, I'll try and find the link for you
have a search and you'll end up finding what hose barb you need,,
there are plenty of sizes, type in "Provent catch can adaptors"

Did you read what I wrote before John. Those heater hoses are no good, even though they are an absolute perfect fit ... They do not like and are not designed for handling oil or oil fumes.

Mine is Di so I'm not sure what size is the rocker cover fitting on CrD but you can buy the whole shebang complete with hoses to suit your Patrol from Western filters, no need for reducers as hoses are molded correctly Provent-200-oil-catch-filter-kit-12mm-16mm-for-Nissan Patrol/ (http://www.westernfilters.net.au/provent-200-oil-catch-filter-kit-12mm-16mm-for-nissan-patrol/)

and

I actually bought my Provent from them. Without any fitting kit or hoses. Then after the heater hose fiasco, I messaged them and they sent me a kit with reducers etc... Thats the reducers you can see in the first photo....
This new kit you linked is different and looks much better.

Heres some pics of where i installed mine. was a tight fit due to the abs module and vacume pipes.

I got my a bunch of "make your own bracket" sheets from bunnings. They come in a bunch of sizes. I worked out i needed 3 sheets to attach and offset on the black bracket holding the vacume pipes, which actually brought it closer to black bracket to clear the abs moudule piping. See photos for some ideas..http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2017/01/96.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2017/01/97.jpg

Had to put a little twist to move vacume pipe to one side, but all fitted in nicely.

Take some time dry fitting to make sure it clears everything and you will have no dramas...

Also fitted a bit of clear to drain with tap on end and routed using some cushioned clamps.

Dont forget to cable tie any hoses that are touching or rubbing on each other,,
trim them flush with a stanley knife or such. They will wear through if left.

Hi,

Where did you get the L bracket from? I bought the kit from western filters, but there was no bracket.

Thanks,

I would fit a bracket on the back of the fuel filter bracket and put it there

That's the side my extra fuel filter is but flipped to opisite side of the bracket, then the provent is where your fuel filter sits currently, if that all makes sense.
