My Gq td42 starts up fine turning over for 2/3 sec before ignition but when i shut down there is a definite lag as the engine slowly splutters down like its running out of fuel.Im guessing it could be a faulty cut off switch ??
Ive also read it could be dirty injectors which allow some fuel through after ignition is switched off ?
Any ideas ?

G'day Gary. This sounds like a sticking fuel cut off solenoid on the IP. Mine does it once a month. And I am not looking forward to attacking this job as it is a major pain to get to it on my car. Not sure how it is on the GQ's.

Remember the only way to stop a diesel is to shut off the fuel. Starting seems bit slow. Usually if you wait for glow plug light to go out before cranking (without using accelerator) it should start in a couple of turns - unless glow plugs not working properly. Any smoke from exhaust when started ( big cloud then disappears )? Any smoke when taking off or driving, and what colour is smoke (white, blue or black)?
