Hi all

I've heard things before about not using coolant for the first week when replacing a head gasket to help it set in place. Instead, water should be used. Is anyone able to clarify this?
Does a head gasket need hot and cold cycles to set?

Thanks all

Andy

You can do a one last stage of tightening the headbolts after couple of drives.
Other than that, I've never heard of using water instead of coolant.
Coolant is mostly water anyway, only difference is the boiling point.
