I have a 2004 zd30 patrol . I'm chasing some advice as to what ic to buy . not rolling in cash atm .
So something not over the top would be good .

I have had one of these for three years now with no issues. http://www.brownsradiators.com.au/shop/index.php?page=more&id=CACNIS1024
Reading here Cross Country seem to be popular as an upgrade, but if your stuck for cash a fully welded one should do the job, but make sure you are not getting a cheap and nasty.

IMO I think the cross country against an OE tigged intercooler is not worth the money.
Im talking bang for buck$$$, The CC IC will cost $1200 and up and if they are bothered to post
it.
A diesel Smart IC will cost about $350- $400 and have a similar outcome.
My money was spent on the above IC and I love it,
Make sure you get a pressure tested IC as well, tested to 60psi is ok

If you're going to NADs your motor give mudski a PM for
some more info, he'll have what you need from a catch can
to boost controller.

Hi threedogs
Would you believe I already had that IC saved in my watch list ,the same with the adapter .
How much did the scoop cost and where from ? I have a mate who is a painter ,so that's all good as far as paint is concerned.
I would have thought that kind of boost would have thrown a code .
I'm running 315/75/16 tyres , we have a little "hill" near our place ,it's about 2km to the top . It is 18% to 20% for most of the way ,
coming over in 3rd for most and 2nd for the steep bit I'm seeing 550 EGT at the most . Is that safe ?
The IC is leaking a fair bit .

If you IC is leaking this wont be helping your EGTs. The scoop that John and shown a pic of is from a mob called A.R.E. If you can work out their website. Its on there somewhere. Good luck. http://www.are.com.au/index.htm

With the bigger scoop and a tigged IC which is about 30% bigger
will allow your motor to be as about efficient as can be,
And no my motor does not "throw" codes
Paying $1300 plus for the bigger IC is not worth it ,,,,
it's only a 3ltr for crying out loud, some ppl think they
can get LS1 performance from a ZD30,,,,PML
