OAK PATROL 88

Hello All,
I am now a proud owner of a 1998 GQ St Ute,
i bought this as a project, as you can see the vehicle is in average condition.
the factory TD42 engine is running rough, but for $3000 I am definitely not complaining. no rust thankfully.
Stay tuned as i attempt to build this car up myself over the coming year with as little assistance as possible.
Only problem where to start?
This forum is awesome with so many build threads and ideas that my brain is in overdrive.

Needs a wash. :D
Looks like a great unit to base a build on. No rust and pretty straight.

She needs a wash alright haha,
I should've stated my very first plan is to strip and thoroughly clean the entire vehicle inside and out.
As i have a car, this will remain registered and off the road while i gut it and build it up.

you don't see too many non white GQ Utes, the old man has a qjote one about a 94/95 but unfortunately heaps of rust from being by the ocean all its life and always outdoors

Hi Gubigfish,
i just did the search through the nissan colours code. it's brown, i thought was a kinda gold, nonetheless i actually like the colour and am going to get it re spray back to original.
i am glad this has only really been a Kimberley farm/town ute,

Hi Guys,
just a quick heads up.
this is the non turbo black top TD42.
are they strong enough to do a turbo/IC/pump upgrade on?
Otherwise i will source a factory TD42TI and do a transplant.
my list of parts are slowly compiling. bring on January when it all starts.
Shed is almost cleared ready for the beast.

G'day young fella !
You start by making a lift, I mean list, of wants and needs. lol.
Seriously, It's an addictive lifestyle. You really need to prioritize what you want to do.
Don't let your ourcomes be more than your incomes.
I watched and listened and learned for about 5 years, and only made a couple of mistakes, that I didn't really regret, but I could have done better.
Take care out there.

Cheers Rosco,
that is my plan over the next couple of weeks.
gonna strip it down and create a rebuild list etc.
then to prioritize the vehicle.
i am really going to study the diy threads etc. as i am wanting to do this project with as little amount of trade help as possible.
there will be of course times where that will be unavoidable.
