why my patrol is slow?
take me almost 3 minutes to reach 110kmh
I feel it has heap of power but when I push on the accelerator pad (90% and not at floor) it goes slow...
it has just original parts and nothing of extraordinary as been installed
I bought it 3 monhts ago from a car dealer and for what I paid 7000$ ( july 1999) I am more than happy ,
I just wonder if it-s normal that is slow, that-s all ...
I even wander if is normal that drinks more than I can drink beer
6kms with 1 liter
not dameges in any of exterior part nor underneath

gu Nissan patrol 07/99
4.5 petrol only
220.000kms

cheers Rob

The fuel usage looks pretty good actually. You should get pretty good power out of it.

Doesn't sound right. Sorry I know nothing about them though bud.

Yeah, that fuel economy is really good for a GU 4.5 litre engine. Mine's RB30 with 3 litre engine has the same economy.

Yeah, it's not right to be slow when you give it full throttle.
It may be a good idea to show it to somebody.

G'day mate and welcome to the forum. It might be worth checking the airflow into the motor. How are the air filters. Does it blow excessive smoke from the exhaust under load. Just wondering is its running rich due to air restriction.

With fuel figures like that what's the chance of it being lean?
So power is good when low in the gears but struggles in higher gears due to no torque?

Nah, mate I've got the 14 pin.

On another note.
Why don't I get notifications when I'm mentioned, is there something that I need to set/change?

Time for some basic checks,
Air filters,
Timing
Spark plugs,
Just do all the basics, Then report back,
Also try disconnect battery for at least 10mins or over night etc,

Im going to have a guess its one of two things,
Knock Senor
Timing,

Changing out the fuel filter may also help if its blocked up.
Look for any split vac hoses.
Its not uncommon for 2nd/h vehicles to have vac lines hooked up the wrong way, a vacum schematic will help here
Again get hold of a manual and check all sensors if ya can.
Look around the engine bay/under dash and clean as many earths ya can find.
