I have got myself a G60, it is a 1976 soft top (almost no top) and is stock standard.
It runs and drives but needs a bit of work before I can get it on the road.
Will probably start with fixing the brakes and exhaust, check for leaks and change all fluids and then see how it runs & stops.
I am sure as I start to look I will find more things that need attention so I will have to be patient, not one of my strong points.
No plan for a new paint job in the near future but will get a new canvas roof.

Ahh, smell that, burnt asbestos and old gearbox oil. Cool project car, Tony. Can't wait to see it on the dunes at Swan Lake.

Nice Tony!! I would absolutely love a G60 to burble around the bush in! One problem though. Gotta get rid of some toys or buy a bigger place! :(

Join a club and chuck it on heritage plates (if they have that in SA?). My club-plated road bike costs me $70/year for a 45-day permit (or maybe 90-day, can't remember, I don't fill the logbook up) and about $50/year for full comprehensive insurance with agreed value by RACV!! Makes a cheap hobby rather than paying full rego and insurance costs.

I gather being standard it's got the P40 motor ? Just as a base, when we did the border track, the GU cost $194 in diesel for 1800 ks. The G60 ? $500. Happy travels Tony.

I was impressed when I saw you used the G60 for the Border Track.
Have had everybody tell me how thirsty they are, will probably mainly do short drives into Adelaide Hills and up the river.

No, don't have the history.
The guy I bought it off only had it for a short time before his missis told him he had to cut back on his project cars as he already had 3 old Land Rovers and 2 Willys Jeep's.
It was last registered in 2014.
Have spoken to some guys in a historic car club down my way and when I fix a couple of things they will come and inspect it, give it a tick to say it is original and give me the paperwork to get historic reg.

Awesome stuff..
I would also love to do something like this..
Had one down here for sale not long ago, a hard top for $500..
Local bloke bought but haven't heard about it since..
Looks straight and in somewhat better condition for its age than most..
I'll be following

G`day Tony.
Thought it may have been the one I had a few years back, but no , mine was a mid wheel base with a full canopy.
They are good trucks and I enjoyed many trips of tough tracks with very little trouble.
Good luck with the project , will have to drop by for a look and may by a dram or two.

I know you've had a few things to deal with but hopefully it's still in your hands.
I've just seen this on FB and thought I'd share some inspiration for you..

Going very slowly, have to keep stopping work to let the skin grow back on my knuckles.
Have not had a lot of time for a while as have worked lots of weekends and then gone away when not working.
It will happen.

Too few mods on that one, Bigg. I think Tony can do better than that. Right, Tony?

Very slowly, went to put on a new brake line couple of weeks ago and found the brake place had done the wrong thread.

After a long pause on fixing this because of back problems I gave in and took it to a mechanic and it is now on the road and registered. Was fun driving it home from mechanics on Wednesday.
