Calling all doctors...lol
So on my travels to WA last month when we went camping I must've picked up a tick in my clothes. I wore a jumper from there when I got home and that night I found a tick on my back when I was showering.
Well i didn't know it was a tick at the time I just scratched it to find a tick in my hand.
Long story short, it's been itchy for the last month and I went to the docs today and he had a look and said he can't see anything inside the wound, all good, etc.
LeAh posted it on some face ache page and everyone's saying the heads missing it's stuck inside your body, you're gonna get Lyme disease and all these experts have jumped on saying they got Lyme disease after the docs in Australia said it was fine, etc and how Australian docs are useless, etc.
We don't get many ticks over here and whilst I'm not freaked out I am concerned it hasn't healed yet.
Photos below of the tick and the bite as of yesterday after o scratched it again because I couldn't help myself...lol...so it's red a bit because of that.
Can anyone confirm the head is missing off this tick, bush tick maybe?
Should I bother to do anything else, it's been a month now or just suck it up princess you'll be fine?
Leah's on freak out mode and there's about 30 people telling me I'm in trouble so any reassurance from anyone in the know would be helpful...lol

I strongly suggest the rambo cortorisation method. Empty the powder of a couple of .22 shells onto the wound and apply flame. Problem solved!!!

From one of the medical sites on ticks " It is normal for a tick bite to remain slightly itchy for several weeks, however if other symptoms develop, then a doctor should be consulted immediately. "

Try magnaplasm (think that's what it's called) - magic stuff on splinters apparently...
Dr Karl had a call a couple weeks back about Lyme. Summary of answer is that it won't be Lyme, as they have not detected this in Aus samples of people and ticks (insert conspiracy theory noise here...), but it may be a similar bacteria, it's just Aus is such a backwater compared to Europe, the research hasn't been done yet - comes down to $$$$ and number of cases...

Local young lass had suspected Lymes desease (was diagnosed with chronic fatigue for years). Her family saw a story about tick bites so they sent a blood sample to America. They treated her as per Lymes and she is now OK. Absolutely true as I know them. Make of it as you wish.

Bugger AB. The old man has allergic reactions to ticks they can be pretty bad for some people. He ended up passing out in the bush driving out luckily mum took over and got him to hospital but but pretty scary. . . Not the best seeing as they live in east Gippsland the tick capital! Need to get lee lee to do sum diggn i reckon, the heads do come off fairly easy. As far a lymes go not too sure, could as the old man but yeah could be a bit of Internet sensationalism . . .

On a serious note..............saw on a TV show a few months back the best way to remove a tick was with one of those pens they use to remove warts by freezing them. Apparently when you try to remove a tick with your fingers or tweezers they "vomit" their stomach contents which is what causes the infection.
By using the pen you quick freeze them so this doesn't happen & makes it easy to remove them with the head still on. Have been meaning to get one for the First Aid box & give it a try to see if it works.

After the new donk is fitted and we have had a few beers we can take turns trying to dig the tick out.

Different TV show (BBC's "Trust me, I'm a Doctor") that had a section on Lyme Disease n ticks, showed a specific tick removal tool (looked a bit like a mini Stanley Wonderbar from what I could tell). Put tool under the tick, quick twist n it comes out - head n all! (No freezing required)
Probably a good bit of gear for the 1st aid kit if we can get them here. @TD - here's a fleabay project for ya???
