Series 4 gu comes with 17s from factory, place card indicates I think 265/70r17 tyres. Can I fit 16s and if so am I limited to 265/70r16 tyres or can I go for 285/85r16s ? Is it legal?

I would only assume so, as you see plenty of GUIV's around with 16inch steelies on. Give Brett at 4x4 Obsession a call. He did my engineers cert on my Patrol. He would be able to tell you yay or nay.

I have run 16x8 steel rims with 305/70R16 tyres for 8 years.

The GUIV DX may have come out with 16s so it would make it legal across the range if that is the case.

How much does the change in size mess up the speedo? thinking of getting another full set for around town.

By whatever percentage you change the tyres will also apply to the speedo IE if the tyres are 7% bigger the speedo will be 7% lower etc etc
