Got to come clean... I've sold the Patrol and ended up with a Dual Cab 79 series Toyota.

Yeah, terrible bloody decision I know, but as I still love the Patrols and still have a G-60 in the family (even if it is rusting under a tree), and this is the best bloody forum on the internet, I'm gonna stay and keep bugging you blokes.

Feel free to throw shit at me whenever the need arises. I'll cop it sweet coz already I miss my old truck. The new Toyota is here to stay though and its a family company owned vehicle, so I'm stuck with it.

I'll happily post up all my new whinges about it, but I do happen to like the sound it makes...

The canopy was designed from scratch with remote touring in mind, and a lot of what I learned on this forum has gone into it. Particularly with the schmick electric system.

Here's a pic. Tried to include a distracting nice sunset and a Patrol to soften the blow...

If I had the cabbage.... only to get an extra tonne towing ability and the towing power, the only thing that lets the Nissan down.
We want to live on the road in a reasonable van, but its a dream.

If Nissan did a dual cab with that 5.0 litre Cummins V8 and coils all round, these 79's would still be in Toyota warehouses...

That would be a great bus

It's OK FNQGU or should I say FNQ79, even AB has a Toyota in the family and it runs better than his GQ (sorry AB). Been used as a urinal at forum gatherings but what would you expect.

Yeap, you're the one who bought a Toyota - but we'll let you stay as you take some magnificent pictures.

No you're not! You've got a pod on the back, which means I can still squeeze some ideas for mods out of you. lol

Show us close ups of your pod, please.

Take care out there.

Got a bit of a touring blog and website going now. And I'll share here as much as I can, as much of what we all love doing is relevant to all.

Below is Part I of the new truck build. If you want the rest of the build and canopy design, electrics design and finishing touches etc., then scroll to the right at the bottom of each blog, and you'll find them somewhere in the mix with the rest.

I know it isn't Nissan, but my heart is still with the Patrol, and I hope there might just be a big bit of it in this truck build.

Shit, I might just start a new thread. This one was meant to be a confession, not starting a canopy design discussion.
