Fitting a factory TB4.2 turbo to a 4.8GU.

Anyone know if a turbo from a factory 4.2 can work on a 4.8 patrol, and is it affective. It's for a mate of mine, buts it's my old turbo which has about 130K on it.

Do you mean a factory turbo from a 4.2 diesel?

If this is the case then no it is far to small for a 4.8
You would be better off looking at the gt35/40 variant off a falcon xr6 turbo. I think these are roughly a 3582 size. Even then they are a touch on the small side but with a large a/r rear housing and good size external gate it should perform well as a low down, lower hp good response setup.
