GU TD42 Tacho irratic

Hi all my ute is having a bit of trouble . the tacho is not working at low speed . and the engine light comes on . Any ideas ?

Dirty or faulty tacho sensor is my first thought.

it that internal in the fuel pump ?

Td42 is in the front of the engine near the water pump.

Check your alternator is also working correctly.
