Hi Everone.
I have recently purchased my first Patrol and unfortunately have been very disappointed with the fuel consumption. I have an 03 GUIII 3.0Ltr on 33's with Bullbar (no winch) and roof rack. Recently burned 1/2 tank (approx) of diesel on a 210km trip??? Surely that can't be right! HELP??

Did you start with a full tank and re fill or are you just working off the guaue.
If it's the latter it's really guess work.

Get some accurate figures of true kilometres and actual litres used... it may not be as bad as you think

Hi mate... Yeah just going off the trip computer and fuel gauge. I know their never 100% accurate but still 210k's and 1/2 tank?? Thats terrible! I used to get better than that in a V8 Falcon :(

Im getting abot 370 till the needle points at half tank
No very acurate .
Check your tyre pressures at 38-40 psi for HWY work, find some flat ground and go
Only fill tank to first click

Thanks mate... Yeah been reading a bit about the tyre pressures! Definitely going to check them out! Don't know what PSI they are at. Also going to take the rack of the roof (as I don't need it for daily driving) and see if that does much.

I found a roof rack will use 30-40 Ks per tankfull

Trip computer?
and...
V8 Falcons don't weigh anything like a 'Trol or have the aeros of a brick.
You need to get the accurate K's (given 33's mean you actually travel further than your Odo states) and accurate litres used.
You can expect anything between 10 and 16 LPH depending on terrain, wind, auto/manual and driving style.
Most will average between 12 and 15 LPH on the bitumen anything over that is starting to get excessive

I'll do some calculations after a nice drive this weekend after I remove the rack and check the tyre pressure. I'll fill the tank and hit the road....

Do you still have the std intercooler, it may be leaking giving no boost, is it oily at all?
I have an 04 and get 12/100k and towing sitting on 110kph 15/100k
When was the last time you serviced it, Air filter, maf sensor , etc
What mods have you done ,exhaust, chip etc????
Run some injector cleaner next full tank
