I have seen threads about it somewhere. So keep looking it has been done. For the external temp to work you need to hook up a probe somewhere.

couldnt get in from work but did check it out from home which was fine. Have ordered it from wreckers in Vic so have to wait for it to rock up for a look at the wiring ...
the TD, am on night shift again so will have a look when i get home in the morning if in a reasonably coherent state.

mate that little panel toward the front is just clipped in, you can pull that out and with a bit of mucking about can install a little bracket that drops down at which point you can attach the head unit somehow - am thinking a piece fo VHB or UHB would do it

you know I hate the Bay but that is a crazy price for that unit, might still get it and use the one I just got a send backup

I used my 2nd UHF in my camper, sort of like a home base

have seen a couple of set ups with a second radio. never really thought of it as a necessity, but with that price could set that one up as the main and keep the other one in the glovebox or somewhere - theres some great ideas around on locations

You could mount your UHF there and mount a VHF radio elsewhere down the track
